I.
When I was still a calf, I was vibrant
I demanded of myself
Now I demand of my rancher
But less so
And as the grass
losses flavor and color
As my knees grow stiff
from my lack of play
I too change with the passing of time
From being- to less than
or just so
II.
My regrets are few
and crushing
All involving time
Where freedom once lied
Who’s caress
Now squeezes me
III.
And now I will be marched to my final destination
